Profile
Babble Fish Productions is a production house based in Mumbai, India. Formed 2 years ago and fuelled by the power of film and imagination, we’re always looking to create something new.
Our experience ranges from music videos to covering live events, from long format documentaries, to short format shows for the internet. Our drive and passion for film makes every project we do a singular and unique experience, and more importantly just down right fun!
At Babble Fish Productions, one of our biggest passions is music. We work towards creating a visual identity for music, as well as the bands and artists that create it. The increase of original music coming out of India has been quickly followed with a need to create dynamic and interesting visual content, which is where Babble Fish comes in. We have produced music videos for established artists like Pentagram as well as then emerging artists like Shaa’ir + Func and Raghu Dixit, who’s music videos have gone a long way in furthering their popularity.
We have also worked on unique projects such as producing an art inspired music video for the launch of London’s cultural Olympiad in 2012. The video formed the background for a live art performance using light, music and moving image.
Babble Fish excels at documenting the essence of live events as we understand the importance of capturing a moment and being able to share it with the world. Our experience ranges from covering live music performances across the country to documenting music festivals as well as national day celebrations not only in India, but other parts of the world as well. We started with the The Big Chill an annual festival held in Eastnor, England which was brought down to Goa, India. This was the country’s first ever large format music festival, spanning 3 stages, 30 artists and 2 days and was hugely popular and successful. We documented the Roots Festival, touring 7 cities in the North-East with 3 bands and 1 bus. We were also invited to shoot a documentary for the 2008 National Day celebrations of Qatar, held in Doha, and most recently, we created documentary for the Indian Government (ICCR) covering the South Asian Bands Festival against the backdrop of Purana Quila in Delhi, featuring artists from South Asian countries and music spanning genres from rock to folk to Bollywood.
As a company, Babble Fish enjoys experimenting with new ideas and techniques with the visual arts. We are currently one of the few companies in India working with new media specifically, the Internet and creating shows and video podcasts for this medium. The ‘P-man’ show, one of our first creations, centers around the rock scene in India. The ‘Soundpad Sessions’ catalogued the journey of 4 Indian bands recording with legendary producer John Leckie, and new episodes were uploaded on a daily basis. We covered the ‘Iron Maiden’ concert for Asias first On line Independent Music Channel called ‘Iamtv.com’. Most recently, we created a series of podcasts for Campaingindia.com on the Goa Fest – India’s biggest advertising festival. We are currently in the process of working on podcasts for Baajaa Gaajaa, India’s first ever music expo held in Pune.
Babble Fish has worked extensively with the YP Foundation in Delhi - an organization that supports with young people’s work in the social field as well as the creative arts. Our work with them ranges from creating a short film on what the YP Foundation is and does, to documenting their 6th anniversary celebrations. We have also conducted a weeklong workshop with the YP Foundation, teaching them about film as a medium and guiding them through the creation their own short film on a project that works with street kids thus providing them with valuable hands-on experience.
Babble Fish has also conceptualized, shot and produced corporate AV’s for the Hindustan Times, Fever 104 FM, MySpace India, IPL and so on which have been showcased at various events across the country.
We believe that this is just the beginning for us. Our experience has only driven us to thirst for more. Each project is equally passionate to us and we take pride in handing over a project well done- from beginning to end.
